* Lumber: Dimensional lumber (for example, 2x4s and 2x6s) is the most popular choice for wall framing due to its affordability and ease of use. * Engineered Wood Products (EWP): EWPs, such as oriented strand board (OSB) and laminated veneer lumber (LVL), offer enhanced strength and dimensional stability. * Metal: Metal studs are lightweight, fire-resistant, and durable but more expensive than traditional lumber.

2. Proper Framing Techniques

Precise framing techniques are essential for a sound wall structure. Key steps include:

* Layout and Blocking: Mark the stud locations and install blocking in corners and around openings for added support. * Studs and Plates: Fix studs vertically between top and bottom plates.
