How To Hang Floating Shelf On Brick Wall

Floating shelves are a great way to add extra storage and style to any room. They're especially well-suited for brick walls, as the rough texture of the brick can help to create a rustic and industrial look. However, hanging floating shelves on a brick wall can be a bit more challenging than hanging them on drywall. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Choose the Right Shelf

The first step is to choose the right shelf. Floating shelves are available in a variety of materials, including wood, metal, and glass. The material you choose will depend on the style of your room and the weight of the items you plan to store on the shelf. For example, a wooden shelf is a good choice for heavy items, while a glass shelf is a good choice for lighter items.

2. Find the Studs

Once you've chosen a shelf, the next step is to find the studs in the wall. Studs are vertical supports that run from the floor to the ceiling. They're usually spaced 16 or 24 inches apart. To find the studs, you can use a stud finder or simply tap on the wall until you hear a solid sound. Once you've found the studs, mark their locations with a pencil.

3. Drill Pilot Holes

Once you've found the studs, the next step is to drill pilot holes. Pilot holes are small holes that are drilled into the wall to make it easier to drive screws. To drill pilot holes, use a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the screws you'll be using. Drill the pilot holes into the studs, about 1 inch deep.

4. Install the Shelf

Once you've drilled the pilot holes, the next step is to install the shelf. To do this, simply line up the shelf with the pilot holes and drive the screws into the wall. Be sure to drive the screws all the way into the wall, but don't overtighten them.

5. Level the Shelf

Once the shelf is installed, the final step is to level it. To do this, use a level to check the shelf from both sides. If the shelf is not level, loosen the screws on one side and adjust the shelf until it is level. Then, tighten the screws.
